About JCMA

JCM Analytics provides screening testing services designed for K-12 schools by working with a national network of independent laboratories. They use high-sensitivity tests with rapid turnaround, and an option for at-home specimen collection. In-lab pooling facilitates same-specimen reflex testing to provide individual results after just one swab is collected.

Follow-up Testing Options with JCMA

With JCMA, you do not have to collect additional samples for follow-up testing.

Here’s how it works: Individual samples are pooled at the lab, reserving enough of each sample to conduct individual diagnostic tests on specimens associated with any positive pools. These positive pools are immediately reflexed with individual results available within hours of the positive pool results.

About the Test Offered by JCMA

In-Lab Pooled PCR Test

Partner lab, CIAN Diagnostics, conducts pooled testing using a modified, Applied Biosystems™ TaqPath™ COVID-19 Combo Kit. The TaqPath Combo Kit contains both the assays and the controls needed for the real-time PCR detection of RNA from SARS-CoV-2. The TaqPath is a multiplex real-time PCR assay targeting SARS-CoV-2 orf1-ab, S gene, and N gene.

If SARS-CoV-2 is detected in a pool, reflex testing is performed on all individual specimens from that pool using the standard assay. Taq Path EUA is available here.

JCMA has multiple laboratory partners, and may add additional labs to the MA program as needed. Every test used meets rigorous standards, and JCMA requires that each lab provide validation evidence that the probability of identifying a single positive individual in a pool of the maximum size used by the lab remains the same as if the same individual had received a standard, EUA test.

For internal pooling validation studies and more information about the sensitivity and specificity of the test, please reach out to JCMA at sales@jcma-llc.com.

None of these tests are approved or cleared by the FDA. They are authorized under an emergency mechanism called an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) or are considered laboratory developed tests, which are authorized to be performed in designated laboratories only.
